The Golden Baby: Ektachrome on 35mm
Kodak recently brought back Ektachrome Slide Film. On a whim, I grabbed a roll of 35mm the last time I was in my local film supply store. I was completely unprepared for how much I would love it. I am just floored by the tones, the perfect rendering of skin colors, and way it handles light.
I set up these shots on the patio of Device Brewing Company. It was early afternoon (a time of day known for it’s unflattering light ) so I positioned myself so the baby and my husband were backlit by the blindingly sunny afternoon. The dazzling rings of light in the portraits of Delphine are actually refracted light passing through a glass of beer, which I held up to the lens as I shot. Before we left, I passed the camera to my husband and he captured some beautiful images I’m so pleased to be in.
